2026 Annual MACT Singer/Songwriter Competition

Here are the 6 nominated contestants for this year.
Each will perform two songs and the top two will perform one more to determine singer/songwriter of the year


Westley Price (Waco)


Westly writes southern blues with touches of folk and country story telling. He has been writing since he was 18 years old. Tombstone Wasteland is his band.

Scottie Davis (Waco)

Scottie (Rockin Scottie) performs and writes mainly Southern Rock, but is a dynamic and versatile performer.

Wade Ryan (Temple)


Wade has been writing songs for 25 years and he tends to sing and play folksy alt rock. He performs with his wife Shannon Locke in the Shade Acoustic Duo.

Leila Colquitt (Dallas)


Leila has been writing since 5 years of age. She writes and performs mainly country/pop music.

John Friesner (Temple)


John began writing and composing classic rock in 1997 (29 years). His band is 36West.

Sara has written songs for 20 years and considers her style Americana (Porch Punk).

"Singer/Songwriter Performance" Qualifiers
Top 6 entries will be chosen to perform 2 songs live.
Top 2 selected perform one addition song to determine overall MACT singer/songwriter of 2026 (as well as runner-up).
Singer/Songwriter winner will be chosen by guest judge singer/songwriter and panel of judges at the event.

"Song of the Year" Qualifier
All songs submitted will automatically be entered to win the MACT song of the year.
Song of the Year will be determined before event, but announced at event. 
Performance not necessary, but also may be in contention for the singer/songwriter event.

M.A.C.T. Singer/Songwriter Contest Rules 

Songwriter must provide 2 original songs (mp3, mp4, link audio format) in google forms link. If this is not possible, please reach out to Patrick Shade

Songwriter must provide 1 live video performance for review (can be same song as already provided or another)


Contest will consist of 2 original songs (must be 2 of the 3 songs provided above)

Songwriter can have 1 accompaniment (singer, background vocals, extra instrument, no backtracking)

No A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) will be accepted for consideration.

All entries submitted are entered for song of year (pre-determined before Sept. 24)

6 selected songwriters perform 2 original songs live at O’Briens Irish Pub. 
Top 2 songwriters come back for 1 additional song to determine MACT songwriter of the year.
3rd song must be different song.

*Top 2 chosen songwriters will enter a spot for MACT Fall Festival on Oct. 24, 2026 and will be expected to put on a 1 hour set (including covers).

Submissions due August 15th, 2026
$20 due at time of submission here.
